Formula 10.0.6 Deep Down Detox Ultra Cleansing Mud Mask Review

Formula 10.0.6 says their Deep Down Detox Ultra Cleansing Mud Mask is a "super-cleansing detox mask" that "cleanses impurities for a clearer, brighter, complexion. The energy of orange recharges, while sea salt cleanses and bergamot balances. Your face will notice the difference." This affordable face mask is offered in two sizes - a 100ml (3.4 fl oz) tube that'll run about $8.99AUD and a duo of 5ml (.15 oz) sachets that cost just $2. Formula 10.0.6 does not test on animals. The Deep Down Detox mask is made in Australia.

Deep Down Detox comes in an eye catching bright orange squeeze tube with a flip top cap. The product name is printed on the front of the tube in bold lettering, along with a product description: directions and the ingredient list can be found on the opposite side. Packaging is fully recyclable.

Formula 10.0.6's Deep Down Detox Ultra Cleansing Mud Mask is pastel coral in color and creamy in consistency, making it very easy to apply (I like to use a brush to spread this mask around, but of course fingers work just as well!). Unlike it's sister product, No Time To Shine, Deep Down Detox doesn't cause any  warm, tingling sensation on the skin, in fact it's slightly cooling. This clay mask dries down quickly and has a tendency to get quite crumbly, so I wouldn't suggest leaving it on for more than 15 minutes or so. Despite it's tendency to disintegrate if left on for more than the recommended length of time, Deep Down Detox is a complete pain to remove, it partially emulsifies in contact with water, so half of the mask rinses away, while the rest stubbornly waits to be scrubbed off with a washcloth. This mask has a sunny and stimulating orange scent upon application, but it fades away as the clay solidifies.

Deep Down Detox makes a visible difference in my skin after every use! This clay mask has an immediate brightening effect, my skin looks glowy and fresh and my redness is reduced by at least half. Ironically, I can't say that this clay mask is particularly "detoxifying" or clarifying, but it does absorb a little bit of oil without parching the skin - it actually seems to impart a little bit of moisture (though not enough to call it hydrating or moisturizing. Let's just call it well balanced.).

This mud mask is pretty standard at it's core, with a base of water, two types of clay (kaolin and bentonite) and basic thickeners. Soothing aloe, cucumber extract, and vitamin e are all included in this mask's formulation. Two citrus oils (bergamot and sweet orange) are present in small (>1%) amounts. These vitamin c rich extracts have the potential to brighten the skin, but they can also be sensitizing, especially if you're exposed to the sun shortly after use. Be sure to apply SPF if you choose to use Deep Down Detox in the morning, as I often do. This mask contains a small amount of fragrance (also less than 1%), and parabens, if those are the type of ingredient you choose to avoid.

The Deep Down Detox Ultra Cleansing Mud Mask is most appropriate for those with normal to oily skin, and probably should be avoided by those with dry skin. I think this mask should be fine to use if you have acne or acne prone skin, but it likely isn't a safe bet for those with sensitive skin.

Formula 10.0.6's Deep Down Detox is a mask I've purchased time and time again, and will continue to! This clay mask never fails to brighten up and balance my complexion, making it a great way to start the day. I've been out of Deep Down Detox for a couple days now, and I really miss it, it feels like there's a hole in my skincare routine. I plan to repurchase this mask as soon as possible, and I recommend that you to give it a shot too.
